Union Meeting:
The
next Union Meeting will be a regular meeting held on Wednesday,
February 8. 2012, at 5:30 p.m. in the meeting
hall at 2300 E. River Rd.
Important
Notice of 2012 International Dues Increase:
The
delegates attending the 38th IBEW International Convention, which
was held in Vancouver, British Columbia, the week of September 19th
- 23rd, 2011, approved amendments to Article IX of the IBEW Constitution.
Accordingly, effective January 1, 2012, there will be a per capita
increase of two dollars ($2.00) per month for all members.
This will increase your 2012 due to $34.50 monthly or $103.50 quarterly.
Notice
Regarding 3.03A:
The
Local 86 Executive Board will be implementing 3.03A effective Monday,
December 5, 2011. You should have received a letter in the
mail regarding this implementation. If you have any questions
please call Ron Freida at (585) 235-1510.
Vacation
Freeze:
The close-out checks will be mailed out on or about
January 16th, 2012.
Sunshine
Club:
It
is that time of year again to become or renew your Sunshine Club
Membership. The cost of membership is $6.00 for 2012.
If you are interested simply make a check out to "The Sunshine
Club", for $6.00 and mail it to: The Sunshine Club, 2300
E. River Rd., Rochester, NY 14623. A membership card will
then be mailed to you. Please NOTE that you must be a Sunshine
Club Member in order to request help from the Hardship Fund.
JATC News:
The JATC
has scheduled the following classes. If you are interested
in any of them, please call the JATC office at 235-5050. If
necessary, leave a message at extension 300 and leave your name,
phone number, and which class you wanted to attend. The following
classes do qualify for $500.00 to be put in your supplemental account.
If you have taken any of these classes previously, you will not
be eligible to take it a second time.
Torque/Cable
Tray - Torque - Evaluation of torqueing procedures
as pertains to switchgear panels, etc. Cable Tray - Review
of code section 392 as pertains to NEC 2011. We will be
accepting a maximum of 12 people for this class.

- 8:30 pm - Both Nights Required.
Health
Care Systems - To complete this course, your must
attend 8 hours fo instruction. This course will address
codes and standards as they apply to the health care industry
in the 2008 Code. You MUST bring your 2008 Code Book to
class. This class is limited to ONLY 12 people.

- 8:30 pm - Both Nights Required.
EVITP
- Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program - This course
will train certified electricians to install electrical vehicle
charging stations. PLEASE NOTE - YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED
A STATE OR FEDERALLY APPROVED ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
WITH A MINUMUM OF 8000 HOURS OF ON THE JOB TRAINING AND A MINIMUM
OF 720 HOURS OF RELATED CLASSROOM AND LABORATORY INSTRUCTION IN
ORDER TO BE CERTIFIED. Therefore, if you took your apprenticeship
classes anywhere other than Local #86, you must present your certification
to us prior to attending this class. You must attend 24
hours of classroom instruction and the test is a three (3) hour
duration. A passing score is an 8 and grading is done at
a 3rd party facility. The class is limited to ONLY 10 people.
NO
SUPPLEMENTAL MONEY WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS CLASS.

JATC News - The JATC has installed a drop box located
by the side metal door. This box is for your convenience
to drop off any documents after hours and on weekends. REMINDER:
Apprentice evaluations are due the FIRST
Friday of every month. Make sure these are on time or you
will face a 30 day pay suspension.
New
Resign Policy Effective March 1st, 2011:
All resigns will be once a month, on the first
(1st) consecutive Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of each calendar
month. Resign can be done by email,
fax, mail or in person on those three (3) days only. If the
resign is not received in the Referral Office by the end of the
business day (4:30 p.m.) on that Wednesday, the applicants on any
Book(s) will "roll off" the lists(s). The applicant
will have to sign in person and re-register on the out of work book(s).

Notice to all LU 86 Members:
It
is very important to make sure the Hall has all certification that
you have on file and entered into the computer (such as....CDL,
Confined Space, Welding, etc.). Please contact Tamie at (585)
235-1510 to update your records as soon as possible. When
you travel out of town you must have all your cards with you.
